Each of the students in Gretchen Henderson’s Introduction to Creative Writing class chose a spot in Dahlgren Quad from which to write haiku throughout the fall 2015 semester. The following haiku are by Sam O’Driscoll from “spot 8.” Click through to see the metadata for each haiku or to browse more of Sam’s spot 8 haiku.
Fingers running through
Countless blades of green grass.
They are taller now.
How quickly a space can
change. Eyes closed, I don’t see–
I hear ghosts in the quiet.
Lazy Sunday night
Sprained knee from a vicious fight
Still the moon shines bright
Orange as a flame
Moon bleeds over all the leaves:
Is it night or day?
