Rebuilding Old North

Old North has undergone many changes over the years, both in its role and use on the campus and in its physical structure. This interactive game by CCT student Ziyan Liu uses a Microsoft Surface table and 3D-printed replica pieces to make these changes, and the larger history of Georgetown that they reflect, into something tangible.

The activities on this touch-sensitive table allow visitors to explore the evolution of Old North over the years, both in its use and physical structure. Each piece marks a significant event in the history of Old North, and the interface provides a physical connection to this history that would otherwise remain intangible. The game also gives an introduction to the key architectural changes the building has undergone as it challenges you to correctly “reconstruct” the building.
