Like a friend you’ve not
seen in years, this spot has changed.
Is this the same place?

From greens to plain grays
and the ink on these pages—
a transformation.

I’m responsible
for the loose brick to my left—
I apologize.

“Don’t go there,” she said.
Why can’t I if I want to?
I enjoy falling.

Reluctant hellos,
time changed and so did you. Now,
